PRESIDENT & CEO
Scott Conger joined United Way of West Tennessee in May of 2015 and tells people that he works for all of the ladies in the office. He is passionate about serving his community and about creating sustainable long-term change, not just temporary fixes.
Although he serves on countless local boards, he is probably best known for being prominently featured on Bethel University's billboards across the state. Scott dislikes paperwork and is moving the office to a paperless system, despite his employees' attachment to paper planners, which baffles him. His biggest adversary in the office is the fax machine, which he tries to get rid of at every possible opportunity.
SENIOR RESOURCE DIRECTOR
MADISON, CHESTER, CROCKETT, & HARDEMAN COUNTIES
Pat Ross has been a part of the United Way of West Tennessee team for over 25 years. Pat’s responsibilities include the planning and implementation of fundraising efforts each year in our largest region - Madison, Crockett, Hardeman, and Chester counties; she also oversees our Christmas Partners and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance programs each year.
Since Pat's career with United Way is four times longer than the rest of the staff combined, she is the ultimate question-answerer. She believes that sleep is mostly unnecessary, and is involved in numerous community projects and organizations. She is also the only person in the office with the skill to change the tape in the office calculators.
GIBSON, DYER, LAKE, & MCNAIRY COUNTIES
Kristen Chambers joined the United Way team in August of 2016. Kristen serves as the Resource Development Director of Gibson, Dyer, Lake, and McNairy counties and is responsible for fundraising strategy, account management, and volunteer coordination for these areas.
A true extrovert, Kristen can often be found at any kind of local event, and because of this, she seems to know everyone in the area. Kristen is a wealth of knowledge regarding women's clothing boutiques and has an eye for a good deal.
CARROLL, HAYWOOD, HENDERSON, & WEAKLEY COUNTIES
Ashley Gooch joined the United Way team in December of 2016. Ashley serves as the Resource Development Director of Carroll, Haywood, Henderson, and Weakley counties and is responsible for fundraising strategy, account management, and volunteer coordination for these areas.
Ashley's penchant for brightly patterned leggings is only surpassed by her love for animals. In addition to numerous other pets, Ashley has a pet pig, Squealie Nelson, who has his own Instagram account. She is also single-handedly responsible for resuscitating the office plants and flower beds.
Janet Johnson joined the United Way team in October of 2016. Janet serves as the Finance Director and is responsible for all things finance related - processing payments, payroll, and most importantly, tracking down receipts from the rest of the staff.
The office candy lady, Janet continually sabotages the healthy habits of her coworkers. Her organization and eye for detail have played an invaluable role in the spontaneous office construction and design projects that have taken place in the last year.
Erika Dean joined the United Way team in October of 2016. Originally hired as the Office Manager, Erika usually tells people she is "in charge of Marketing, graphic design, communication, event planning, and anything else that needs to be done."
Erika believes that any problem can be solved with the right YouTube tutorial. Originally from Maine, Erika's Yankee personality means that she works hard and says what she means. Her boss says that she always looks like she's up to something (because she usually is).
